| Quite simply, FlowTools is a utility application that allows users to create and refine their production workflows.
In some ways, it actually might be more simple to list the features that FlowTools doesn't have rather than the ones that we've built into the application over the years.
Anyway here goes... First off, Flowtools is a workhorse at moving files around a production area. Set up the automation to monitor a set of hot folders and it can move, copy and ftp files from one destination to another.
What's more FT can be configured to do imposition - writing single pages into PDF plates for the RIP or platemaker. Signatures can be two-up, four-up or nearly any other configuration the user requires. Furniture also can be applied to the plate structure, on the fly.
After it's finished, FlowTools can deliver the imposed flats to devices as PDF or in some cases, the files can be converted to EPS, Postscript or 1-bit TIFF.
Beyond all of that, the application can export EPS files from PDF, embed metadata (XMP), create archives, purge selected folders, resize PDF ads and write multiple pages to a single document or split multiple-page docs into singles. Handy indeed.
